Join the Leesport Area Historical Society today, and help us restore the West Leesport Schoolhouse.w.lees.sch2.jpg

Located on 128 Main Street in West Leesport is one of the county's few remaining 4-room schoolhouses.  The schoolhouse was built in 1858 as a two-room one-story schoolhouse which, in time, received a second story.  Classes were conducted here until Spring 1961.  Thereafter, it was used as a warehouse and then a meeting place for the Leesport Jaycees and Jacettes.

The late Edna Rickenbach, Professor of Sociology and Dean of Women at the Kutztown State Teachers’ College, proudly acknowledged that she was a graduate of West Leesport High School.  At that time, the high school was a 3rd class high school because classes were offered up to the 10th grade level.
